Elf Shop successful again

To the Editor:

Another Elf Shop at Fairmont Elementary is in the books. We had more than 150 kids go through and choose more than 600 gifts for their family members for Christmas. All of those new or gently used gifts had been donated by people in our community. The kids had really quality items, including some handmade, from which to choose.

Thank you so much. The Elf Shop, which allows students in kindergarten through second grade to “shop” for free for their families, is a really fun time for the kids AND the volunteers who help. A special thank you to the following for donating items: Beta group, Culligan, JCPenney, Shoe Sensation and Silver Lake 4-H.

Thank you to these volunteers without whom there would be no Elf Shop (or great food for the volunteers): the Fairmont Elementary custodial staff, Amy Becker, Carol Cress, Carol Pierce, Char Kahler, Darcia Schmidt, Grace Skrabeck, Joy Okerman, Laura Dunker, Maurene Cordova, Melanie Schaal, Nicole Green, Rita Craven, Sarah Spear, Stephanie Johnson and Youth Coalition (YOCO).
