FAIRMONT – A Celebration of Life Visitation for Terry L. Heavirland, Sr., 69, of Fairmont, MN, will be Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Terry passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 4, 2019, surrounded by his loving family and step-family at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Terry Lee Heavirland, Sr. was born on April 23, 1949 to Frank and Una (Young) Heavirland in Grand Rapids, MN. He grew up around Moose Lake, MN. Terry graduated from Floodwood High School in 1967. After high school, he lived in Willow River, MN and then moved to Fairmont, MN in 1990. He worked for the State of Minnesota in the Minnesota Corrections-Sentence to Serve department for many years. He retired in 2007 due to his health. Terry always felt lucky to have worked doing something he loved and touched so many lives.
Terry was in a loving and committed relationship with Nancy Hoscheid. Family was very important to Terry. After retirement, he enjoyed hauling machinery, flipping houses, raising and working with animals and baling hay.
He is survived by two sons, Terry Jr. (Theresa) Heavirland of Moose Lake and Troy (Shawna) Heavirland of St. Cloud; eight grandchildren, Chris, Katrina, Allisa, Dayton, Blake, Meghan, Troy Jasper and Elizabeth; significant other, Nancy Hoscheid of St. James; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Russell and Charles Heavirland; six sisters, Joy Carlson, Ruth Stepan, Judy Rosemore, Shirley Thorton, Patti Opperud and Darlene Frauendienst.
