Hazel I. Musser

FAIRMONT — Funeral Service for Hazel I. Musser, age 95, of Fairmont, MN will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Hazel passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hazel Irene was born March 10, 1923 to John and Mary (McCann) Moore in Fairmont, the youngest of nine children. Growing up she attended school in Fairmont and was a member of the 1941 graduating class from Fairmont High School. Following graduation Hazel began working at the telephone office and then went to work at Railway Motors.

On January 31, 1945 Hazel was united in marriage to Wilbur “Bud” Musser. The two lived in Washington, D.C. where Hazel worked for the American Red Cross until Bud was discharged from the United States Marines. They then moved back to the family farm in Rutland Township and began farming. Hazel and Bud were blessed with four children: Pamela, Jill, Susan and Bradley.

Hazel excelled in cooking, baking, canning and gardening. She loved to cook for the family, farm workers, neighbors and friends. She was especially known for baking the most delicious pies. She also enjoyed reading, crafting and shopping. Hazel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fairmont where she was active in the Ladies Aid Ministries. Hazel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Pam Peetz, and her husband, Horst of St. James, MN, Jill Roehrich and her husband Chuck of Chaska, MN, Sue Musser of Fairmont, and Brad Musser of Fairmont; two grandchildren: Paul Peetz and Bart Musser; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Musser; grandson, Joshua Musser; and her brothers and sisters.
