Sharon ‘Sharry’ Mae Tveit

ROCHESTER — Sharon “Sharry” Mae Tveit, 61, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, of a sudden heart attack at her home in Rochester, Minn. A celebration of her life will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at The Homestead of Rochester (where Sharry had been employed), 1900 Ballington Blvd. NW, Rochester, MN 55901.

Sharry, as friends and family called her, was born Sept. 13, 1956, at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, to Harland and LaMae (Gramstad) Sandmaier, the oldest of three children. Sharry graduated from Kiester High School in 1975. She worked her way to becoming a nurse and achieved her advanced R.N. degree in 2004.

She dedicated her nursing career to working with the elderly and was an extremely compassionate and empathetic presence. She was a loyal and dedicated nurse who was loved by her coworkers and those she cared for.

She enjoyed helping people through difficult times in their lives and generously volunteered her time to organizations such as the Crime Victims Crisis Center and Volunteers of America.

Sharry was loved by many for her contagious laughter and jolly demeanor. She loved vegetable gardening and taking care of her flowers. She was a lover of pets and had many cats in her life. She had said that when she died she would join her best friend, Linda, at the “Rainbow Bridge” to be with all the animals until those pets were someday reunited with their loved ones.

Sharry is survived by two children, Terry Tveit and Julie Tveit; two grandchildren, Axel and Zachary Folie; one brother, Randy Sandmaier; one sister, Jody (Sandmaier) Henning and her husband, Jeff, and their two daughters Nicole and Anna Henning; Mervin and Aldine Gramstad and their daughters Pamela, Annie, and Holly and their families.
