SUN LAKES, Ariz. — Fred Heidmann, age 79, of Sun Lakes Ariz., formerly of Fairmont, Minn., passed away peacefully Thursday, May 17, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. A family service will be held at Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Chandler, Ariz.

Fred was born March 4, 1939, in Neche, N.D., to Richard and Annie Heidmann. He graduated from Walhalla High School in 1957. He continued his education at Mayville State College and graduated from North Dakota State University.

He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Patterson) Heidmann, in 1962. They moved to Fairmont in 1967, where Fred was a claims representative for the U.S. Social Security Administration.

Fred was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. He served on the church council, the usher team and the missions board.

Fred loved to play golf, and was a member of Interlaken Country Club. He loved to garden and fish as well. He also enjoyed camping with his family and time with friends, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.

Fred is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Paul (Annette), and Jon (Jessica), both of Phoenix; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Roland (Joyce), Richard (Esther), Jim (Jan); and sisters, Irene (Mert) Johnson and Betty (Muril) Pederson.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents.
