Deanna was born Feb. 11, 1971, at Fairmont Community Hospital, to Marvin and Roberta (Wiese) Garbers. She was baptized on March 21, 1971, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, and later confirmed her faith on April 21, 1985. Deanna was a member of the first graduating class from Martin County West Schools in 1989. She attended Concordia College in St. Paul, Minn., where she played basketball and volleyball, and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in education in 1993.

Her first job took her to the Tracy-Milroy School District, where she taught sixth grade and coached volleyball and girls basketball. In September of 1999, Deanna moved back to Sherburn and taught sixth grade and again coached volleyball and girls basketball in the Martin County West School District. After several years, Deanna moved to the high school and taught math until she was no longer able to teach in November, at which time she became a resident at the Seasons Health Care Center in Trimont, Minn.

Deanna was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. She enjoyed officiating high school volleyball matches and, in her free time, she could often be found at a sporting event cheering for her nieces and nephews.

Deanna is survived by her parents, Marvin and Roberta Garbers of Sherburn; her sisters, Brenda (David) Lovhaug of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Marla (Cliff) Anderson of Sherburn, Minn.; nephews and nieces, Daniel Lovhaug, Paul Lovhaug, Bethany Lovhaug, Zachary Anderson and Emily Anderson; aunts and uncles, Delores (JeRay) Armstrong, Rosella (Norman) Pavel, and Jackie Wiese; and cousins, Tammy (Tom) Gaden and Traci (John) Anthens.

Deanna was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Minnie (Diekmann) Garbers and Robert and Gertie (Peper) Wiese Sr.; uncles, Melvin Garbers and Robert Wiese Jr.; niece, Laura Lovhaug; and other family and friends.

Deanna’s family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers which will be used for the Deanna Garbers Scholarship Fund at Martin County West Schools.
