Lois Peterson was born Nov. 6, 1928, at home to Charles and Irene (Reinke) Fowler. Home was on the farm near Truman, Minn., where the Fowlers were one of the first settlers in Martin County.
It was along the banks of Martin Lake that Lois had many adventures growing up with her brothers, Harold, George and Charles. When Lois came to know the Lord at an early age, she was baptized at nearby Horicon Church. After graduating from Fairmont High School in 1948, she attended nursing school and worked in Mankato.
In 1951, she met and married Dean Peterson. Together they farmed west of Truman and had a feedlot filled with cattle. Lois loved farm work and their life together. For their three daughters Susan, Jane and Kay she was a tireless helper, a trusted confidant, a listener of stories, and a sweet friend. She welcomed each new son-in-law, grandchild and great-grandchild with loving arms.
Lois was active in church and bible study groups and made a point of visiting with people about God’s love for them. Even in her last year when she could not speak, those who came in contact with her knew of her love for Jesus Christ. Knowing Lois read the Bible and prayed for each member of her family every day will carry them for years to come. Lois loves the Lord, and is now in heaven.
Left to cherish her memory are: children, Susan (Mark) Owens, Jane (Dave) Halverson, and Kay (Mark) Sauck; grandchildren, Dan (Leah) Owens, Matt (Carly) Owens, Heather (Jon) Perkins, Peter (Allison) Owens, Angie (Dan) Faber, Joshua (Diann) Halvorson, Amy Halvorson (special friend, David Svoboda), Katie (Jordan) Honnette, Tyler (Jessica) Sauck; 28 great-grandchildren, so far; brothers, George Fowler, and Chuck Fowler.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; parents; and brother, Harold Fowler.
