LEDYARD — A memorial service for Christ V. Engelbarts, 90, of Ledyard, Iowa, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota. His family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. today at the church in Lakota, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday also at the church.

Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft is in charge of arrangements.

Christ Verdine Engelbarts was born March 2, 1927, on the family farm near Ledyard, son of Otto and Bertha (Christ) Engelbarts. He grew up there attending Ledyard Community School. Christ farmed the family farm his entire life.

He was married to Beth (Lund) Potter on June 6, 1971, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, Minn. They moved to Ledyard in 1993, when Christ retired from farming. They then enjoyed traveling together, delivering Winnebagos all across the country.

Christ was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota, being very active in the church choir. In November of 2013, Christ and Beth moved into the Main Street Manor in Swea City. In March of 2017, he became a resident of Valley Vue Nursing Home in Armstrong. He died there Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at the age of 90.

He is survived by his wife, Beth, of Swea City; three children, Jim (Denyse) Engelbarts of San Pablo, Calif., Karma Engelbarts of Des Moines and Karen Evans of Des Moines; five stepchildren, Dwight (Shawn) Potter of Friendswood, Texas, Mark (Shelly) Potter of Swea City, William Troy (Michele) Potter of N. Grosvenordale, Conn., Tony (Tracy) Potter of Winnebago, Minn., and LuAnna (John) Fogarty of East Bethel, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Engelbarts of Elmore, Minn.; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; stepson, Robin Potter; and two brothers, Elmer Engelbarts and Melvin Engelbarts.
