Lorena Zeitz

FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Lorena Amelia Elizabeth Zeitz, age 100, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow the service in Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont.

Lorena passed away Friday evening, Nov. 17, 2017, at Ingleside Assisted Living in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lorena Amelia Elizabeth Haes was born in Liberty Township, Hancock County, Iowa. As an infant, she was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner, Iowa, where she was also later confirmed. Growing up she attended a one-room school in Liberty Township before transferring to Garner Public Schools, where she was a member of the 1934 graduating class.

On Aug. 28, 1938, Lorena was united in marriage to Arnold Henry Charles Zeitz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner. This union was blessed with five sons: Gary, Glen, Allan, Arlyn and Dean.

Lorena helped Arnold on the family farm in Rolling Green Township until they moved to Fox Lake Township, and continued to farm there. Lorena took great pride in being a helping hand on the farm and a loving wife and mother.

Lorena was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont where she served on the Ladies Aid Committee and taught Sunday School for over 20 years.

She was a talented seamstress, sewing her own clothing and teaching sewing lessons to the Fox Lake 4-H.

In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and crocheting. Lorena always looked forward to family fishing trips and vacations in the motorhome to Arizona and California. Lorena truly lived by example putting her faith and family first.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons: Gary (Kathy) Zeitz of Welcome, Minn., Allan Zeitz of Fairmont, Minn., Arlyn (Cindy) Zeitz of Renville, Minn., and Dean (Denise) Zeitz of Silver Bay, Minn.; grandchildren: Alden (Jodi) Zeitz, Naomi (Jeff) Hough, Paul (Melissa) Zeitz, Amy (Dustin) Avery, Shane (Lacy) Zeitz, Jesse (Samantha) Zeitz, and Seth Zeitz; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Haes; other extended relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Lorena was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Zeitz; son, Glen Zeitz and his wife Inez; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Zeitz; two brothers; one sister; and other relatives.
