Paul ‘Jed’ Stebritz

ARMSTRONG — A funeral service for Paul “Jed” Stebritz, 84, of Armstrong, Iowa, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, with Pastor Lauri Boysen officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, rural Armstrong, Iowa, with military honors by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post 5232 of Armstrong.

He died on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong.

Paul “Jed” Stebritz was born June 14, 1933, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Frank and Gertrude (Paul) Stebritz. He received his education at St. Cecelia High School in Algona. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 19, completing basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Jed then served during the Korean Conflict until being honorably discharged in 1956.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5232 in Armstrong, where he served as Post Commander, as well as VFW 10th District Commander.

On Feb. 14, 2003, he married Arla Bergen and the couple made their home in Armstrong. He was employed with Art’s Way Manufacturing in Armstrong for 36 years.

Jed was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed gardening, dancing and spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.

Left to cherish Jed’s memory are his wife, Arla of Armstrong; children, Donald (Anna) Stebritz of Greybull, Wyo., LuWanda (Chris) Towell of Estherville, Amanda (Cory Folkerts) Murray of Emmetsburg; stepsons, Brent (Jennifer) Quiram and Bradley Quiram; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Jayden Stebritz, Taylor (Samantha) and Cody Linn, Lyndsay and Ashton Towell, Logan and Tianna Murray and Kynlee Folkerts; step grandchildren, Kyle, Payton, Rylea and Sophie Quiram; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Linn and Waylon Linn; sister, Sr. Marie Therese Coleman; brother, Alfred Coleman; brothers-in-law, Brian and Glenn Bergen; also Dorothea, Shyla, John, Leala, and Rebecca, who will always have a special place in his heart; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Charles Thomas; grandson, Garrett Towell; eight brothers; and six sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
