TRUMAN — A Service of Remembrance for Howard P. Jorgenson, 76, of the Truman area, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Waverly Lutheran Church, rural Trimont, Minn., with Pastor Anthony Christoffels officiating. Howard will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Ole Reader Bosshart American Legion Post 115 of Truman and the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post 373 of Trimont.

Howard was called to his eternal rest on Sunday morning, Aug. 20, 2017, on his birthday at Truman Senior Living in Truman, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Howard Palmer Jorgenson was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Fairmont, Minn., to Marvin and Hulda (Breitbarth) Jorgenson. He was baptized and later confirmed both at Waverly Lutheran Church. Howard attended country school District 121 and District 54, and later attended Truman High School. On Sept. 10, 1960, he served in the U.S. Army.

On April 8, 1962, he was united in marriage to Arlawayne Jamison at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont.

Howard was discharged from the Army on Sept. 9, 1966. They farmed in Waverly Township, rural Truman, where they raised their four children, until 1999, when they moved to Fairmont.

Arlawayne died on Oct. 29, 2007. Howard continued living in Fairmont until becoming a resident of Truman Senior Living.

He was a member of Waverly Lutheran Church.

Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing softball.

He is survived by his four children, daughter, Jodi (Jeff) Lueth of rural Truman, daughter, Jill (Dan) Schwanz of rural St. James, son, Jay (Julie) Jorgenson of Willmar, Minnesota, daughter, Jennifer (Shane) Kuehl of rural Truman; 12 grandchildren, Lacey Lueth, Braedy and Melissa Lueth, Cody Schwanz, Sarah Schwanz, Christopher Cunningham, Taylor Jorgenson, Eli Jorgenson, Emilee Kuehl and Adam Pierson, Elizabeth Kuehl and Connor Diegnau, Ellie Kuehl, Eivey Kuehl and Easton Kuehl; great-grandchildren, Lola Kay Lueth, Eva Lueth, Leslie and Junior and Stetson; sisters, Dorla Christensen of Blaine, Minn., and Patricia (Robert) Dahlheimer of Alexandria, Minn.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlawayne; infant grandson, Brandon Lueth; brother, John Jorgenson; sister, Dorothy Schmid; two brothers-in-law, Alfred Schmid and Floyd Christensen; and other relatives.
