FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Marlin W. Milbrandt, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Marlin passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.

Marlin Walter Milbrandt was born June 9, 1925, in Welcome, Minn., the son of Walter and Bertha (Roloff) Milbrandt. Marlin attended country school between Fairmont and Welcome before attending high school. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theatre during WW II.

In 1942, his family moved to the current home farm that Marlin referred to as the “Poor Farm” where he farmed for many years. In 2000, he moved into Fairmont.

Marlin enjoyed ice fishing, fishing and hunting, storytelling, collecting Indian artifacts and fishing lures, riding his motorcycle, traveling to Florida, and fishing in Montana in the 1970s and 1980s.

He is survived by Violet Lueth of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Nina Milbrandt; cousin, Gene Roloff and his family; special friends, Nancy Milbrandt and her son, Steve; as well as other cousins and special friends.

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Arnold Milbrandt.
