FAIRMONT — A Celebration of Life service for Dolores Dreke of Brandon, S.D., formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairmont.

Dolores Hope (Moltzen) Dreke died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, with her family present at Bethany Home Brandon in Brandon, S.D. She was 93 years, 6 months, and 22 days old. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dolores was born May 16, 1923, to Henry and Elizabeth Moltzen. She spent her childhood days in and around Fairmont, Minn. She was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon, Minn., and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Dolores was a 1941 graduate of Fairmont High School. She then earned her teaching certificate from Mankato State University and spent several years teaching school at various country schools in the Fairmont area.

On June 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Raymond Dreke. Together, they made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with two daughters and one son. After she and Ray were married, she cared for her family while her kids were in school. She returned to the workforce as a library assistant where she worked for over 20 years. She also spent some time working at Stokely Van Camp and at JCPenney’s.

She and Ray moved to Brandon, S.D., in 2009 to be closer to their family. Others may claim that they had the best mom, grandma, great-grandma, friend or sister, but her family doesn’t have to make that claim. She was the absolute best! Her faith was incredible and she gracefully shared the love of Christ with all who she encountered. She also baked the best cookies, pies and cakes. Dolores loved to play and win at cards and following the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show and listening to and singing music. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Choir and was the funeral coordinator for many, many years. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy and she especially enjoyed the Christmas season.

Left to honor her memory are her daughters, Peggy (Kenneth) Olson of Waseca, Minn., and Nancy (Karl) Gregory of Brandon, S.D.; son, Douglas (Carol) Dreke of Brandon, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Laura Langer, Elizabeth (Christopher) Anker, Carrie (Kyle) Holemen, Kristy (Timothy) Eden, Matthew (Amy) Dreke, Michael (Alexie) Gregory, Amy (Jarrod) Larsen; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly (Gordon) Oltman; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Raymond.
