Prime rib supper slated

SHERBURN — A “Lunch and Learn” event, sponsored by CREST and Temperance Lake Ridge, will be held 11 a.m. today at Sherburn Senior Citizens Center in Sherburn.

The program will feature Greta Lintelman, who will talk about Heaven’s Table in Fairmont.

Following the presentation, a salad luncheon with spring desserts will be served. A donation will be accepted for the meal.

Grilled burgers will be served 6-8 p.m. tonight at Sherburn American Legion. Everyone is welcome.

The annual Sherburn Lions Club prime rib supper will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn American Legion.

Tickets are $17 if you purchase them in advance from any Lions Club member, Bank Midwest in Sherburn, Amborn Lumber in Sherburn or the Photo Press in Fairmont. Tickets at the door will be $20.

Proceeds will help support community projects.

Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club will hold its soup and sandwich supper Monday at the Sherburn American Legion. The cost for the meal will be $6.

The supper will begin at 5 p.m., with a mystery auction (previously a white elephant auction) to follow at 6 p.m. Guests are asked to bring a gently-used wrapped gift or two for the auction. Old Alley Quilt Shop will donate a beautiful John Deere throw to the auction. Allen Kahler will once again be the auctioneer.

Drawings also will be held for several cash prizes.

Proceeds will go toward the Civic and Commerce Club’s downtown beautification project.

The public is invited.

A grades K-2 spring music concert will be held 7 p.m. Monday at Martin County West High School in Sherburn. The public is welcome.

Sherburn American Legion Auxiliary will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion.

Early Childhood Screening will take place Monday and Tuesday at the MCW Elementary School in Sherburn. If you have a child between the ages of 3-5 who has not been screened, please call the school to sign up your child. Children need to complete this one-time screening before they enter kindergarten.

National Honor Society induction ceremony was recently held at MCW High School in Sherburn.

Seniors inducted were Abby Bachenberg, Katie Ebeling, Nicholas Johnson, Carson Kahler, Danielle Nelson, Cheyenne Owens, Nicholas Potthoff, Melissa Revland, Jayda Rowen, Alexi Schafer, Evan Sinn, Zachary Spear, Karlee Thiesse, Sierra Tumbleson, Madelyn Wade, Jake Whitehead and Alyssa Williamson.

Newly inducted members from the junior class include: Leah Amborn, Destyne Forstrom, Gianna Henningsen, Emily Matejka, and Natalie Smith.

Boys State representatives from our area were recently announced. They include Payton Anderson of Sherburn, Collin Clifford of Trimont and Todd Morrow of Welcome. This year marks the 71st annual American Legion Boys State. It will be held June 9-15 on the campus of St. John’s University in Collegeville. Congratulations to these MCW junior class members who will represent our communities.

Tuesday morning coffee hours during the month of April will be held 8:30-10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont. Everyone is welcome.

A Spring Vendor Show will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at Sherburn Regional Worship Center. Many small and home-based businesses from the area will be there to sell their wares. Make plans to attend.

The indoor swimming pool at the elementary school in Sherburn is currently closed. Watch for word on when it will once again open.
