‘Being Prepared’ event set

SHERBURN — CREST will sponsor the presentation “Being Prepared” at 11 a.m. today at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. Tom Kramer of Kramer Family Funeral Home will provide information and answer questions on the many options for end-of-life decisions.

A lunch of hot chicken sandwiches, salad and pie will follow the presentation. A donation will be accepted for the meal.

Anyone interested in this topic is welcome to attend.

2019 Martin County Relay for Life committee meeting will be 5:30 p.m. Feb. 4 in the main meeting room at Mayo Clinic Health System hospital in Fairmont.

Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn has made reservations for its annual Valentine’s Party at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at the Pizza Ranch in Fairmont. They have room for you if you would like to attend.

Area residents or anyone who enjoys eating out and having a good time is invited to join them for this fun event.

Prizes will be given out as well.

When it’s too cold to exercise outdoors, remember that there is hall walking before and after school Monday through Friday at all Martin County West schools.

Men’s night is held 7 p.m. every Wednesday at the high school gym in Sherburn.

There is open gym time from 2-4 p.m. each Sunday afternoon at the high school.

Also, the indoor pool at the elementary school in Sherburn has open swimming from 1-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The cost for swimming is $4 for adults, $3 for students, while preschool and under get in for free.

If you or someone you know is interested in earning a GED, adult basic education and GED classes are offered free of charge through Martin County Community Education. For more information, call (507) 764-2336.

Ruby’s Pantry will have a food distribution from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday at East Chain Evangelical Free Church, 507 280th Ave., rural East Chain. There are no residency or income guidelines. They ask for a $20 cash donation per participant that entitles you to two large boxes or laundry baskets of food.
