Foster claims mayoral contest

FAIRMONT – Fairmont Mayor Debbie Foster won a full term on Tuesday, defeating challenger Jeff Weber by a margin of 70-30 percent.

Foster was elected two years ago to fill out the remaining two years of Mayor Randy Quiring’s term. Quiring died while in office.

Foster won a four-year term on Tuesday.

In other city races, Randy Lubenow easily carried his Ward 3 race against write-in candidate Jim Zarling. Lubenow garnered 82 percent of the vote.

In Ward 1, Bruce Peters was unopposed and will return for a second term on the council.
