Sherburn discusses ‘active living’

SHERBURN — Carolyn North from the active living committee reported to the Sherburn City Council this week and suggested equipment and programs the community needs for all ages.

She recommended obtaining some stationary equipment at the parks, similar to exercise equipment; and a splash pad at the south park.

Grants could be sought to help pay for the items.

North also said there is a need for more ideas of what residents want. More committee members are needed as well, she said.

City administrator Brad Hughes said a splash pad would involve low maintenance.

Council members suggested ideas and names of those who may wish to join the committee. North can be contacted reached online at cjnorth250@gmail.com

Turning to other business, the council posed questions about the county auction for tax-forfeited property that will be held in November. It was mentioned that buyers have responsibility for special assessments but not unpaid water and sewer bills.

In another matter, the Temperance Lake Ridge monthly financial report was approved. Hughes noted that a feasibility study was complete for an expansion proposal of 7 to 14 units at the facility. Council members noted the need is only going to grow as residents age. They asked about staffing.
