‘Back to ’50s’ event slated
SHERBURN — Sherburn American Legion will host its monthly steak fry from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. You can have your choice of steak or shrimp or a combination of the two, along with a baked potato, garlic toast and salad bar. Everyone is welcome.
The annual Martin County West Booster Club Golf Classic will take place Saturday at Fox Lake Golf Club, rural Sherburn. The golf will begin at noon. There will be an evening meal along with prizes.
This is the biggest fundraiser each year for the MCW Booster Club.

Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn will have a “Back to the ’50s” picnic from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
There will be a meal, live music, games and a photo booth. The meal will include burgers, hot dogs, fries, milk shakes and pie.
All family and friends are invited to join them. RSVP to Temperance Lake Ridge so they will know how many guests to plan for, and if you desire, please dress in your best 1950s attire.
Dunnell will hold citywide garage sales Saturday. Sales begin 8 a.m. so come check out all the bargains. Find something you just can’t live without in Dunnell this weekend.
“Sundaes in the Park” will continue Sunday at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont, featuring Hagen Family and Friends. Music begins at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Primary elections will be held Tuesday. Sherburn voters will vote at MCW High School in Sherburn. Dunnell residents will vote at the Dunnell Community Hall. Hours at the polls will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Don’t forget to vote Tuesday.
Parents, if you haven’t already pre-registered for the four-star Parent Aware-rated preschool for your child, please don’t delay.
Three-year-olds must turn 3 before Sept. 1 in order to attend the 3-year-old program that runs two times per week.
Four-year-olds must be 4 by Sept. 1 to attend the 4-year-old program, which is held three times per week.

Your help is needed in the continuing battle against cancer. Relay for Life is already thinking for its 2019 event. They would like to talk to your family and friends about starting a Relay for Life team of your own in 2019.
The kickoff meeting will be 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Mayo Clinic Health System hospital in Fairmont.
