Truman picks 3 clerk finalists

TRUMAN – Truman City Council members on Monday discussed the hiring of a new city administrator.

Last week, council members interviewed nine candidates for the job. They included some from around the area and some from out of state. On Monday, the council narrowed it down to its top three choices.

Deanna Anderson from Elko, Jeffrey Pederson from Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Bethany Ekstrom from St. James are the top three choices of all council members.

Current city administrator Monte Rohman will contact these finalists to set up a time for second interviews. The plan is to have the new city administrator begin training with Rohman in July and work with him for six months, through the end of the year, when Rohman will retire.

“This is a very important role,” said council member Brandon Mosloski.

Council member Kathy Hendricksen pointed out that while many of the candidates are qualified, that does not mean they will be a good fit for Truman.

While there is no rule that the new administrator has to live in Truman, a big concern of council members is finding someone who wants to stay in the area and keep the position long term.
