Local man facing drug counts

FAIRMONT — A Fairmont man is facing multiple felony drug charges in Martin County.

Richard Longoria, 41, has been charged with the sale of drugs in the first degree, which carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

He also has been charged with drug possession in the second degree, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

Finally, Longoria has also been charged with selling drugs in the third degree, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On March 15, Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force agents arranged to have a confidential informant purchase cocaine from Longoria. Prior to the purchase, the informant and the informant’s vehicle were searched for any illegal contraband or U.S. currency and none was located. The informant was then fitted with an electronic monitoring device and given $340 of buy money.

The informant made contact with Longoria at Longoria’s residence. Longoria had a scale and weighed out about 3 grams of cocaine and sold it to the informant for $320. The informant then left the residence and immediately turned over the cocaine to the agents.

A search warrant was obtained and executed by agents on March 21. Longoria was present and was immediately placed under arrest for the sale of a controlled substance.

Agents searched the residence and located a digital scale, baggies, a small amount of marijuana and small amounts of cocaine in the living room. In the back bedroom, about 47 grams of cocaine was located, along with $1,380 in U.S. currency, which was seized.
