Sherburn Civic & Commerce has begun work on a new project “Beautifying Downtown Sherburn.” Most businesses on Main Street have been contacted and each one has a proposal to upgrade, including scraping, painting, signage, window coverings and awnings.

The Civic & Commerce and the Sherburn Economic Development Authority are funding this program with no cost for labor or material to the building owners. They are also applying for grants, as well as holding future fundraisers.

All of the businesses contacted so far have agreed and are excited about their endeavors to help beautify Main Street.

Local painters and contractors have been hired to do the work.

Civic & Commerce would welcome new members to join the organization and help with this project. They meet 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month (excluding January and February) in the Wellness Center at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn.

They thank you for your support at fundraisers and look forward to improving downtown Sherburn.

If you have any questions, you may contact president Vicki Bicknase at (507) 236-4111, vice president Cindy Ford at (507) 236-6334 or secretary/treasurer Dorothy Behne at (507) 236-0974.

Thank you to the MCW students who shared their musical and acting talents with our communities at their all-school play last weekend. Thanks also to the director, Biny Claussen, and everyone else who helped out with “Little Shop of Horrors.”

May your Thanksgiving Day will be filled with family, food and love.
