Expo to focus on healthy living

FAIRMONT — A Resources for a Lifetime of Healthy Living Expo will be held Wednesday at Five Lakes Centre in Fairmont.

The first-time event, running from 9 a.m. to noon, will feature about 20 exhibitors, including CREST, Mayo Clinic Health System-Fairmont, Ingleside Assisted Living, Hy-Vee, Prairie Lakes Transit and more.

Free coffee and refreshments will be provided. There will be a country music performance by Billye Jane Kuse and Bryon Kittelson from 11 a.m. to noon

The goal of the expo is to help people learn more about services and resources available to promote healthy living. Caregivers and baby boomers are especially encouraged to attend.

The idea behind the expo came about when the Martin County Senior Service Providers Network met. As people were sharing what services they offer, others were surprised to hear of so many services of which they were not aware.

“We decided that doing an expo will help get the word out about all the different services that are out there,” said Roni Dauer, director of Community Education and Recreation in Fairmont, and a member of the Martin County Senior Service Providers Network.

“We realize that there is a great need for services,” she explained.
