Man allegedly made threats

FAIRMONT — A Blue Earth man is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

Dwayne Eugene Money, 23, has been charged with making threats of violence, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

At 11:20 p.m. Oct. 10, a Sherburn/Welcome police officer was on patrol in Sherburn when he observed a male with a dark-colored hoodie and backpack walking along North Main Street. As the officer approached the male, later identified as Money, he observed the male was holding up both middle fingers toward him.

At 11:50 p.m., the officer received a complaint of an intoxicated male beating on the doors and windows of a property in the first block of North Main Street. The officer went to the location and observed Money inside the entrance of the Martin County Star. When the officer asked what he was doing, Money replied he slept there.

The officer observed that Money’s speech was slurred and he could not stand still. The officer then asked Money to sit on the sidewalk and Money yelled that because the officer had a badge, he could do whatever he wanted. Money also stated he was not going to talk to the officer because he could get killed if he talked to a cop.

The officer again asked Money to have a seat, and he complied after removing his backpack. Money then stood back up and yelled at the officer to shoot him. When asked to sit back down, Money grabbed his backpack and tossed it to the side.

Money then turned and took a step toward the officer with his fists clenched and again told the officer to just shoot him. At that time, the officer drew his Taser and told Money that if he took another step, he would be Tased. Money told the officer to do it, and indicated he would charge the officer in order to get Tased.

Money then took a step back and kicked his backpack, which resulted in a black object sliding across the sidewalk. Money then stated, “Oh, that’s my knife. I’ll sit down.” He then said a family member had passed away and began hitting his head on the storefront window. Money then proceeded to punch the ground while grunting, yelling and crying.

Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrived and attempted to talk to Money, who continued to yell and curse. A deputy came up behind Money and instructed him to place his hands behind his back. Money complied at first, but then became defiant and the deputy took him to the ground.

Money was placed in handcuffs, and admitted to drinking.

Money was placed in the officer’s vehicle and transported to the Martin County Law Enforcement Center. While en route, Money made many threats toward the officer and his family. Specifically, Money indicated he knew where the officer’s family lived and stated he would kill them and sleep with the officer’s sister, mother and girlfriend.
