Ties and Tiaras is coming on Friday
FAIRMONT — On Friday, October 27, there will be a father-daughter dance at Bethel Evangenical Free Church in Fairmont. The event, Ties and Tiaras, is being put on by Project 1590.
Project 1590 is a group of community members in Fairmont who are working together to create a more unique and exciting community. Formed in the summer of 2014, there are many different community members on the Project 1590 committee.
One of the sub-committees born out of Project 1590 is “Kids Just Want To Have Fun.” The money raised form the father-daughter dance will go to this sub-committee whose current goal is to put an indoor playground in the Five Lakes Center.
Laura Olson, who is the chair of the sub-committee behind this event, said that the dance is intended for girls of all ages and a male role model.
“A father, uncle, grandfather or other role-model can come and there is no age limit,” Olson explained.
Tickets can be purchased today at the Martin County Library for a suggested amount of $12, but they can also be purchased at the door for a suggested amount of $15 for the entire family.
“Since Bethel is letting us use their facility, we won’t charge anyone who wants to come, but we ask for a suggested donation that will go toward the indoor playground at the mall,” Olson said.
In addition to the dance, which starts at 6 p.m., there will also be refreshments, a photo booth as well as other activities.
“We’re working on ways to provide activities to youth in the area,” Olson said.
