Benefit breakfast scheduled

CEYLON — There will be a benefit breakfast for Roger and Kim Spiegeler from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Legends 2 in Ceylon. Pancakes, eggs, and sausage will be served by the Sherburn Lions Club.

A bake sale and silent auction also will be held.

There will be a bean bag tournament after the breakfast.

There is a suggested donation for the breakfast and a registration fee for the tournament. All proceeds will go to helping Roger with medical expenses stemming from his diagnosis of leukemia and subsequent bone marrow transplant.

Coffee hours for the month of September will continue one more week from 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome.

Coffee hours in October will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. The October coffee hours will be the last of the season.

A reminder to the ladies group from St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon that their meeting will be held 1:30 p.m. Oct. 4, as they will be following the fall and winter schedule now.

Coffee Lovers group meets 8:30-10 a.m. every Thursday at the Ceylon Legion/Legends 2 building. All area men and women are invited to join them for good brew and good fellowship.

Fall began this week, and it was also Farm Safety Week. Please watch for slow-moving vehicles on the road as the farmers begin harvest this fall. Farmers, please be careful with augers, electric lines, bin safety, and road safety as well. Let’s all have a safe fall.
