Ceylon Festival coming up

CEYLON — Coffee hours in August continue 8:30-10 a.m. every Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good brew and good fellowship.

Coffee hours continue all year long from 8:30-10 a.m. every Thursday at Ceylon Legion/Legends.

Both are good places to get your caffeine and fellowship in the area.

The Martin County Fair begins next week, running from Aug. 14-20. Good luck to the 4-H, FFA and open class exhibitors.

Plan to attend the Other Big Fair this week.

Special performers at the park include Hitchville on Tuesday, Hairball on Wednesday, Gear Daddies on Thursday, Holy Rocka Rollaz on Friday and William Michael Morgan on Saturday.

There will also be an antique car and tractor show on Thursday.

Circle of Faith congregations are invited to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening services at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome during August. Area residents are welcome to join them.

Plans are really coming together for the Ceylon Festival on Aug. 26. The committee is pleased with all the support from the community and out-of-town businesses and volunteers. They could always use more help.

For more information about the festival or to help, visit the website www.ceylonfestival@gmail.com

There will be a tractor, car and motorcycle show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with registration from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be food, games, bounce houses, petting zoo, vendor show and silent auction at the park.

The parade will be held at 3 p.m., traveling from the old football field to the ball fields.

The Ceylon Area Historical Society will open the museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Circle the date on your calendar and plan to attend.

Condolences to the family of John Planting, who passed away last weekend. Many will remember this longtime Ceylon resident as their bus driver or auctioneer.

Condolences to the family of Michael Maras, who also passed away last weekend. This Ceylon resident is gone too soon.

Our sympathies to these families.
