Ceylon to host festival Aug. 26
CEYLON — Coffee hours continue from 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church during July. Join friends and neighbors for good brew and good fellowship.
Circle of Faith parishes are invited to Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome for Wednesday evening services at 6:30 p.m. during July. St. Peter and Trinity will have their usual Sunday morning services.
Ceylon City Council has begun an award program for homes that have improvements made and have kept their yards and homes picked up and looking nice. The home awarded will receive a $20 credit on their utility bill.
Congratulations to Craig Reed and Joe Schultz, who have received this award for the months of June and July respectively.
This is a good idea to instill pride in the appearance of your town. More homes may follow their good example.
Ceylon has a website at www.cityofceylon.com and on that site is information about a new fitness center beginning operation in the building that formerly housed City Hall. The fitness center is across the street from the post office. Membership applications are on that website under “important city documents.” Good luck to the city on a new endeavor.
Also on the city website is an announcement of the upcoming Ceylon Festival on Aug. 26. It will feature a car, tractor and motorcycle show at the city park on Railroad Street, and other activities. Circle your calendar and plan to attend.
