The dates for this year’s Truman Days garage sales have been revised so that they will now run Thursday through Saturday, July 20-22. Individual garage sale participants can choose the days they want to be open. Earlier it was stated that the sales would not begin until Friday. However, some organizations have already advertised in the summer Community Education newsletter that their sales would begin on Thursday, so to make it consistent with that announcement, it was decided to go with last year’s schedule. The reason it was proposed that the sales be only Friday and/or Saturday, is that shoppers from surrounding communities complained that there were too many starting times on Thursday and garage sale participants and vendors at the park complained that they were not busy on Friday. The garage sale committee tries to please participants, but as you know that is not easy to do. Applications for being a part of this year’s advertising flyers are available now at Truman Café, Casey’s, Truman Post Office, Truman City Hall, and Profinium. The cost is $15 for a listing of your sale items that goes into 3,000 flyers and 30 different newspapers and other advertising outlets. As in other years, it is hoped that those who are having garage sales list their items in the flyer and not just set up an unadvertised sale. Shoppers do read the flyers and will come to the sales that have things they want to buy. You can call Barb Mager (507) 776-7601 or Kathy Hendricksen (507) 776-7091 with questions or concerns.
