Welcome plans to rescind permits

WELCOME — The Welcome City Council has approved starting a process to rescind truck parking permits because of interference with snow removal.

This past winter, the parking of several trucks hindered snow removal. as well as blocking the view for those driving on Dugan Street, resulting in some near collisions.

In other city news, playground equipment will be ordered, while the downtown flower issue was tabled until the city receives more information and prices. The Fox Lake 4-H Club will plant the boxes as their community pride project. They also donated a tree, and the city will consider a good place to plant it.

The council also discussed tree-trimming projects and the removal of three trees. Bids were compared and the council awarded the job to Thate Tree Trimming for $2,000, if the city works picks up the branches.

In other business:

o City leaders approved a bid from REA for a Class 1 50-foot pole to mount a siren. REA will put the pole in and mount the siren and connect it to Fairmont.

o City workers will get bids for spray-in foam to insulate the wastewater treatment building.

o The council has decided to hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. April 3.

o The next council meeting will be 6 p.m. April 4.
