Book fair set in Sherburn

SHERBURN — Don’t forget the book fair going on all this week at the Martin County West Elementary School in Sherburn. The public is invited to stop by as the elementary school library is full of books for you to look over and purchase if you would like. The book fair will be open from 3-5 p.m. now until Feb. 28.

If you’re unable to come in during those hours, they’ll be open until 8 p.m. Thursday during parent/teacher conferences.

Martin County West FFA pancake breakfast for FFA members, their parents, school staff and invited sponsors and businesses will be held 6-8 a.m. Thursday at the high school in Sherburn. This annual event is held in conjunction with National FFA Week, which is being celebrated Feb. 18-25.

Parent/teacher conferences for students in grades K-12 for all Martin County West schools will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday. If you haven’t been called for a conference but would like to meet with your child’s teacher, please call the school your child attends.

Beginning Friday, MCW elementary physical education classes will include swimming at the Sherburn indoor swimming pool. Students will be bused to and from the Sherburn pool for four consecutive Fridays (Feb. 24, March 3, 10 and 17).

ACT exams will be given to MCW 11th-grade students April 19 at MCW High School in Sherburn. Juniors are required to take this exam. Anyone not able to take the test on that date, will have a makeup date of May 3.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meets 7 p.m. every Thursday, and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) holds its weekly meetings 6 p.m. Fridays.

Both meetings are held at the Sherburn Senior Center on the corner of Manyaska and First Streets.
