‘Community Lunch’ set for Feb. 10

TRUMAN — The Truman community benefit “Celebrate Curtis” will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Truman High School gymnasium, 401 E. First St. South in Truman. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The menu includes pork chops on a stick, salad, chips, drink and dessert. The suggest donation is $12 for adults, $8 for children. Kids 5 and under eat for free.

Proceeds will benefit the family for expenses already incurred and ongoing with Curtis Bressler’s therapy.

The committee would appreciate advanced ticket sales so they can make food estimates, but everyone is certainly welcome to buy a ticket on Saturday. Advance-sale tickets are available from Gini Brummond at (507) 236-8766, Lisa Krenz at (507) 236-1016, or LeAnn Maloney (507) 236-4018.

There will be a silent auction from 5-7 p.m. along with other events.

Curtis and his mother recently went to Hollywood to tape a segment about Curtis’ accident and amazing recovery on The Doctors. The program will be aired 10 a.m. Friday on the Fox 12, KEYC Mankato station.

The channels will be different if you have Dish or Direct TV. Truman cable subscribers can find the telecast at number 24.

There is open gym sponsored by Truman Pride from 4-6 p.m. Sundays. Different activities are available and the halls are open for walking and running.

Come and join senior citizens for cards, bean bags and games from 1:30-4 p.m. every Monday at the Truman Community Building. Coffee is always served and everyone is welcome to attend this free event.

Truman Pride is sponsoring “Community Lunch” at the Truman Public School cafeteria on Feb. 10. If you would like to join in on the fun, you must RSVP along with payment by Friday.

Tickets for adults are $3.70 and $2.65 for children, if you wish to bring children not already enrolled in Truman Public School. To make reservations, call the Truman School office at (507) 776-2111. At that time, they will tell you the lunch time.

Truman Pride is sponsoring this event so that community members can visit with our awesome kids for a special lunch.

Truman City Council will meet 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

Truman Pride meets 7 p.m. Tuesday in the THS Learning Center. If you are interested in our school, this group is for you.

Homework help is available to all students in grades K-12 from 3-4 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday in the THS Learning  Center. This help is free and there is no need to register. Volunteers are always appreciated by calling the THS office at (507) 776-2111.

Truman’s preschool will sponsor a special program called “Preschool Favorites in Literacy” from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday. Favorite books that will be featured are: Pete the Cat, Pigeon Books, There Was an Old Lady and many more.

Come and make something to take home that goes with these favorite preschool stories. To register, contact Jennie Bowers at (507) 776-2111, ext. 3918.  There is no cost for the class.
