After-prom meeting set

SHERBURN — The monthly ribeye steak and shrimp dinner will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn American Legion. Everyone is welcome.

There will be an after-prom party meeting 7 p.m. tonight in the cafeteria at Martin County West High School in Sherburn. All parents of MCW 11th-grade students are urged to attend.

Due to a youth basketball tournament that will be held this weekend at the MCW high school gym in Sherburn, there will be no open gym Sunday.

An open house bridal shower for Beth Eisenmenger, daughter of Bruce and Jackie Eisenmenger of Welcome, will be held 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Beth is the bride-to-be of Brandon Kloss of Rochester. All friends and relatives are invited.

Elementary basketball for grades 1-3 will begin soon. Registration forms have been distributed to MCW classrooms. If your child did not bring one home and you would like to sign him/her up, please visit the MCW website and click on Community Education to print out a form.

MCW students in grades 3-6 will have an opportunity to participate in an after-school study hall program, “Making Connections.” This program gives students a structured study hall on Monday and Thursday evenings at the MCW Trimont School. Permission slips for families who think their child might benefit from this program are available at the school office. If you have questions, please talk to Mr. Brusky or call (507) 639-2017.

Sierra Williamson, daughter of Jamie and Deborah Williamson, and Karter Janssen, son of Kent and Jolynn Janssen, were recently selected to represent Martin County West as Triple A recipients.

Jordan Stahl, daughter of Tim and Liz Stahl, and Kooper Janssen, son of Kent and Jolynn Janssen, were given ExCel awards.

Abigail Bachenberg, daughter of Tim Bachenberg and Janeen McDonald, was named the HOBY recipient.

The sewing ladies at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn invite anyone in the community who might be interested in joining them for quilting and fellowship beginning Tuesday. They will start around 9:30 a.m. that day in the parish center at the church and continue until 2 p.m. with a break scheduled at 11:30 a.m. for lunch. It’s asked that you bring your own sack lunch. All skill levels are needed and welcome to come out and help construct over 100 quilts for a variety of missions and non-profit organizations.

If the snow and cold are keeping you inside this winter, MCW Community Education and Recreation wants you to know that snowshoes are available to rent for just $5 at the CER office.
