Ernest D. Maasch Jr., 40, of Caledonia was convicted on a felony charge of predatory offender-fails to mail verification from within 10 days or report during month of birth; fined $85, commit to Commissioner of Corrections 14 months, stayed for five years, sentenced to jail 67 days, credit for time served 67 days, five years supervised probation, obtain permission from agent before leaving the state, no alcohol/controlled substance use, random testing, predatory offender registration required, comply with all Minnesota BCA predatory registration requirements, follow all state and federal criminal laws, contact probation agent within 72 hours if you’ve been charged with a new crime; are in contact with law enforcement; if you change address, employment, or telephone number, cooperate with search of your person, residence, vehicle, workplace, property, etc. by your probation officer, sign all releases of information, give DNA sample when directed, don’t use/possess firearms, ammunition, or explosives, don’t register to vote until discharged from probation and civil rights are fully restored.

Jacob A. Gardner, 29, of Albert Lea was convicted on a felony charge of fifth-degree controlled substance possession; fined $85, commit to Commissioner of Corrections 19 months, stayed for five years, sentenced to jail 147 days, credit for time served 147 days, five years supervised probation, sentence to service 40 hours for one year, obtain permission from agent before leaving the state, chemical dependency evaluation/treatment, enroll and complete Teen Challenge long-term program, no alcohol/controlled substance use, random testing, don’t enter bars or liquor stores, cognitive skill training, follow all state and federal criminal laws, contact probation agent within 72 hours if you’ve been charged with a new crime; are in contact with law enforcement; if you change address, employment, or telephone number, cooperate with search of your person, residence, vehicle, workplace, property, etc. by your probation officer, sign all releases of information, give DNA sample when directed, don’t use/possess firearms, ammunition, or explosives, don’t register to vote until discharged from probation and civil rights are fully restored. Also convicted of fleeing a peace officer by a means other than a motor vehicle; sentenced to jail 90 days, credit for time served 90 days. An additional felony charge of third-degree controlled substance possession in school/park/public housing zone was dismissed.

Alec V. Harpestad, 20, of Wells received a statutory stay of adjudication on a charge of fifth-degree controlled substance possession-not small amount of marijuana; fined $85, sentenced to jail four days, credit for time served four days, two years supervised probation, chemical dependency evaluation/treatment, follow all recommendations of evaluation, no alcohol/controlled substance use, random testing, disclose all prescription medications to agent and sign necessary releases, cognitive skill training, no misdemeanor or greater violations of the law, follow all state and federal criminal laws. Additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed.
