Girl Scouts to hold cookie sales

Girl Scout cookie booths will be open beginning Saturday and continuing through March 24 at the following locations in Fairmont: Fareway, Hy-Vee, Walmart and Shopko. Local residents interested in buying cookies may contact Karen at (507) 236-1193 to locate a Girl Scout near them.

‘Homespun’ to offer free performance

“Homespun,” a bluegrass group from Woden and Buffalo Center, Iowa, will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday at Heartland Retreat & Rental Hall, 102 E. North St. and N. Henry St., in Elmore. After the program, cookies, hot chocolate and coffee will be served by the youth group, God’s Little Lambs. The youth group also will sell Valentine’s cookies, with a plate of six going for $2.50. Everyone is welcome.

Kelsy Junkermeier of Fairmont and Justine Beckius of St. James were named to the President’s List for the fall semester at Riverland Community College in Austin.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Riverland Community College in Austin: Blue Earth — Jared Hassing, Emily Rios; Bricelyn — Shannon Archer; Kiester — Cynthia Flores; Madelia — Jada Mendez.

Madison Carlson of St. James was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

Matthew Trueblood of Fairmont was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
