Picnic and karaoke Sunday in Armstrong

There will be an old-fashioned picnic from 4:30-7 p.m. Sunday at the Armstrong City Park in Armstrong. This is a fundraiser for Armstrong’s 125th Fourth of July celebration. There will be games for children and karaoke by Steve Lang and Jerry Steinberger. Armstrong Betterment Club will provide hot dogs, buns and condiments. Guests are asked to bring their own tableware, drinks and a dish to pass. Also, Quasi tees, caps, crocks and raffle tickets will be for sale. Health care meeting planned for Monday

Martin County Chapter of Health Care for all Minnesota will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the basement at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St., Fairmont. The chapter is dedicated to promoting affordable, high-quality health care for every Minnesotan through advocacy, education and community organization. The meeting is free and open to the public. The following area students received degrees and honors during a 2018 spring commencement ceremony held May 5 at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa: Armstrong — Jordan Guerdet, bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health; Colton McConnell, bachelor’s degree in nutritional science; Ashley Olson, bachelor’s degree in biology (cum laude); Buffalo Center — Tyler Abels, master’s degree in business administration; Jackson — Samantha Swift, bachelor’s degree in biology (cum laude); Swea City — Garrett Johnson, bachelor’s degree in accounting and bachelor’s degree in management information systems; Joseph Stauffer, bachelor’s degree in medical engineering; Truman — Lucas Miles, master’s degree in agricultural and biosystems engineering.
