Garden Club sets Wednesday meeting
City of Lakes Garden Club will meet 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Ranch Restaurant in Fairmont. Each member is responsible for their own meal. Please bring 10 valentines, which will be shared at a local health care facility. The club meets the first Wednesday of every month. The host/hostess for the month may choose the time and location of the meeting. The purpose of the organization is to encourage all forms of horticulture in the home and community. There will be a business meeting, followed by a presentation on amaryllis; care and planting of amaryllis bulbs. Those interested in becoming a member or who would like more information about the Garden Club may call Myrtle Heifner at (507) 235-8535. New members are always welcome.
Class of 1961 to meet
Fairmont High School class of 1961, spouses and friends, will meet for lunch 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pizza Ranch, Fairmont.

Steven Hertz of Jackson was named to the dean’s list for the 2017 fall semester at Alexandria Technical & Community College in Alexandria.
The following area students graduated and were awarded degrees and honors following the 2017 fall semester for Iowa Lakes Community College: Bancroft — Angel Menke, associate’s degree in early childhood education, Michael Zaugg, associate’s degree in automotive technology; Fairmont — Brandon Harder, associate’s degree in game design & development; Granada — Mitchell Nowak, associate’s degree in arts, Monique Brockmann, associate’s degree in arts (magna cum laude).
