Library to be closed on Christmas
All Martin County libraries will be closed Monday in observance of the Christmas holiday. The Fairmont library will be open normal hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call the library at (507) 238-4207.
CER to offer upcoming activity
Community Education and Recreation will hold a snowmobile safety class 9 a.m. Jan. 6 in cafeteria A at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St., Fairmont. Enter through door 17. This class is a one-day review and riding performance course. Students must complete one of the online courses: snowmobilecourse.com at $29.95 or snowmobile-ed.com with a fee of $29.50 before signing up for the class. Once they complete the online course, students must print out a “youth followup voucher” and bring that along with a copy of their birth certificate. Parent or guardian must accompany student to sign waiver. Each student must have the proper attire of helmet, gloves, snow pants, jacket and boots. A snowmobile will be available. Youth must be 11 years old by the date of class. All residents of Minnesota born after Dec. 31, 1976, must have a snowmobile safety certificate to operate a snowmobile. The instructors are Duffy Post and Mark Drever. Please pre-register with CER at (507) 235-3141 before attending the class.
