East Chain church plans coffee party

East Chain United Methodist Church will host a community coffee party from 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church in East Chain. Rolls, donuts, coffee, tea, milk and juice will be served. Free will offering will benefit the Oakwood Cemetery maintenance fund. Everyone is welcome.

Library announces closing

Fairmont Baptist to celebrate 70 years

Marking 70 years of ministry locally, Fairmont Baptist Church will hold a Harvest Home celebration Sunday at the church located at 1345 Albion Ave. in Fairmont. Former pastor Cary Flinck will speak during Sunday school and the morning service. After the service, there will be a Thanksgiving meal in the Fellowship Hall, followed by a 1:30 p.m. afternoon service at which former missionary to the church Ray Pope will speak. Everyone is welcome.

Red Rock to hold Sunday music event

There will be a hymn fest beginning 7 p.m. Sunday at Red Rock Center for the Arts, 222. E. Blue Earth Ave., Fairmont. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend.

CER announces upcoming activities

Community Education and Recreation will hold two community activities next week. First there will be a Creepy-Crawlies program from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday in room 158 at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St., Fairmont. (Enter through door 15A). There will be games, activities and crafts to learn about the wings, worms and webs that make the small critters so cool. The fee is $14. Also, there will be Thanksgiving-themed Story Time and Crafts with Kayleen class for kids in grades 1-2 from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday in room 158 at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St., Fairmont. (Enter through door 15A). Join Kayleen Fitzloff to listen to a “great book” and then stretch your imagination and knowledge through fun hands-on activities and crafts. Snack will be provided. CREST to host waffle feed

The volunteer caregivers organization CREST of Martin County will host its annual Belgian Waffle Feed from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 300 S. Grant St., Fairmont. The meal will be served by Dad’s Belgian Waffles of Algona, Iowa, and include malted Belgian waffles with syrups and toppings, sausages and a beverage. Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Kids ages 5 and under eat for free. Tickets are available at the Good News Bookstore, Hy-Vee and Grace Lutheran Church. Tickets will cost $1 more at the door. Take-out meals are available. All proceeds will benefit the caregiving efforts of CREST in Martin County.
