Early Risers to hold meeting

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. The program this week will feature Dennis Turner, chairman of the Fairmont Airport Advisory Board, who will talk about issues and workings at the Fairmont Municipal Airport. The public is invited to attend.

Class of 1961 to hold lunch

Fairmont High School class of 1961, spouses and friends, will meet for lunch 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pizza Ranch, Fairmont.

Veterans Memorial meeting set

Martin County Veterans Memorial committee will hold their monthly meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday at 95 Downtown Plaza, Fairmont. All Martin County veterans and/or veterans family members, or interested public are encouraged to attend.

Workforce Center plans event

Hugoson Pork will partner with the Fairmont Workforce Center to host an Employer of the Day event 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fairmont Workforce Center in the Five Lakes Centre Mall, Fairmont. Come and learn about job opportunities in the pork industry.

Korean vets plan picnic

Korean Veterans Chapter 254 will hold a picnic noon Thursday at Heritage Acres, Fairmont. A band — “V Notes” — will begin playing at 11:30 a.m. Chicken, plates and drinks will be furnished, but please bring a dish to pass. All Korean veterans are invited.

Arc Aktion Club to meet

Arc Aktion Club Theatre will meet 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Regular meetings will be 4:30-6 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month, also at Grace Lutheran Church. Aktion Club is sponsored by the Early Risers Kiwanis Club. Wilbur Frink of Mankato will host the first few meetings. He writes plays that deal with topics involving people with disabilities and lots of music is involved. People with disabilities are the main actors, and everyone with an interest is welcome. Disabled veterans to meet

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 32 and its auxiliary will meet 6 p.m. Thursday in the club room at the Blue Earth American Legion. All members are urged to attend.

Prairie Star quilters plan show

The Prairie Star Quilt Guild will hold its quilt show entitled “Prairie Dreams” from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont. Admission is $5. There will be more than 100 quilts displayed, vendors, door prizes, demonstrations, boutique items for sale, luncheon, challenge quilts, a trunk show by Sandy Sorgenfrie, and a display of quilts made by this year’s featured quilter, Joanne Sherman. Also, a queen-sized quilt “Dream Catcher” created by guild members, will be raffled off. Drawing for the quilt will take place 3 p.m. Saturday (need not be present to win). Tickets are available for $2 each or 3 for $5 and may be purchased at the show or from any guild member. For more information, contact guild president Barb Mager at (507) 776-7601. Women to sell baked goods

East Chain Lutheran Women of the ELCA will hold its annual rummage, baked goods and garden produce sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at 703 Victoria St., Fairmont, across from Five Lakes Elementary School. All are welcome to stop by and check out the items.

Bridal shower set for Saturday

An open house bridal shower for Krista Hawkins, bride-to-be of Ryan Moline, will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ye’ Ole Fox, Sherburn, east of the Fox Lake Golf Club. Family and friends are cordially invited.

Class of 1947 to hold reunion

Fairmont High School class of 1947 will meet for its 70th class reunion noon Saturday at Tami’s on the Ave., 2710 Albion Ave., Fairmont. They will order off the menu. All classmates are encouraged to attend.
