Interfaith Caregivers to offer diabetes class
There will be an informative session on diabetes from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the classroom at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. You’ll be able to know what to do if someone goes into diabetic shock, how to slow or prevent the onset of diabetes, what medications work, what should be in a diabetics diet and more. Church in Elmore to sponsor event
Elmore United Methodist “God’s Little Lambs” will sponsor a Fun Night 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Elmore City Park. This is the third year for the event and will begin with a free lunch, inflatable bounce house, a balloon lady, face painting, Balcom’s petting display, and a small train ride for kids. Parents and youth are all invited, although younger youth should have a chaperone.
Rummage sale fundraiser planned
A rummage sale and silent auction will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Eagles Club, 1228 W. Lake Ave., Fairmont. They will sell many various items such as toys, dishes, books, knick-knacks and more. If you want to donate any items, you may do so between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Eagles Club. They will not accept clothes, electronics, magazines or upholstered furniture. All proceeds will be used in support of the Martin County Humane Society.
The following area students graduated and received degrees and honors during a commencement exercise held May 28 for Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter: Blue Earth — Mara Fenske, bachelor’s degree in health fitness (cum laude), Janessa Jahnke, bachelor’s degree in biology; Lakefield — Adriane Rentschler, bachelor’s degree in elementary education (magna cum laude); St. James — Samuel Carlson, bachelor’s degree in physical education, Kyle Pinke, bachelor’s degree in geology, Johnathan Surber, bachelor’s degree in dance (cum laude).
Abigail Fitzgerald of Fairmont was named a Roadman Scholar in recognition of high academic distinction for the 2016-17 academic year at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
Quinn Huisman of Blue Earth and Anna Carlson of Trimont, were named to the dean’s list for the 2017 spring semester at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D.
